The Black Ops Navy Seal Northstar Group…

There has been a lot written about the elite special forces group unofficially called Seal Team 6. What they do rarely makes the newspaper because this military team is all “black” operatives. They exist outside military protocol, engage in operations that are at the highest level of classification and often outside the boundaries of international law. It took years of training and many more years of working together to make this team what it is today.

I’ve been trying to locate this black op group to begin a Navy SEAL Team 6 Northstar Group. I wonder what it would look like if they met as a Northstar group before they started covertly touring the world and blowing things up?

I imagine their first group meeting would be a little like…

“Hello and welcome. Mike, my code name is Tango. You didn’t forget to bring the salty snack did you.”

“That’s an affirmative, and for the record people call me Headbanger.”

Everybody arrives and Tango begins the small group meeting.

“Before we look at the Intel on Manuel Noriega, let’s talk a little about what we will study during this semester.”

“My name is Bravo and I believe we should do a tour of the hot spots in the Middle east and in Asia.”

“Or we could play Call to Duty on XBox.” the Cute One said. “And by the way do you think Pastor Roy and Rodney Dangerfield were separated at birth?”

“Let’s stay on point. How about we blow up some secure bunkers or ammunition dumps,“ offered Grenades. “or how about some heavily armed compounds.”

“This is going nowhere, “ said the Sad One. ‘I think I will switch to the group that is going to track down war criminals in Bosnia.”

OK, I think you get the point.  Even a highly cohesive team that thinks and acts like one, doesn’t start out that way. But with time and with eyes fixed firmly on the prize, they become that team. And so will your group, given time and patience. Good teams usually improve over time.

So give it that time.  Don’t come to quick conclusions and rash decisions.  Because, Northstar Groups are one of the best methods by which your life is changed to be more like Jesus.

Spiritual growth is far more enjoyable and effective when done with other people.
